Semporna (Sabah)
Semporna is a city on the east coast of Sabah, East Malaysia. While there is not much to see and do in Semporna itself, it is frequently used as a gateway for diving and snorkeling trips to the nearby islands of Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai, Mataking, Maiga, and others.
The majority of the population is Bajau, also known as Sea Gypsies, many of whom live in sprawling stilt villages over the water and land on the outskirts of town. They are one of the few nomadic seaborne peoples of the world, and spend most of their lives on boats, making a livelihood from the coral reefs in the area.
